Disability Awareness and Adaptive Sports Workshop
Led by Colorado Young Leaders, learn how to better support people with disabilities and special needs in an interactive workshop, specifically geared for those interested in Serving on the Slopes with Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center.
In this workshop you will learn new ways to grow these skills while serving in adaptive sports:
- understanding of various physical, cognitive or visual impairments
- using person-first language
- to be flexible and open to change
- excellent verbal communication skills
- knowledge of teaching and the ability to be creative on the fly
- active listening skills
This workshop is REQUIRED for those who are interested in joining CYL Serve on the Slopes trips with the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center this winter. If you cannot attend, please contact Lauren for the recording of the workshop. We also encourage you to attend if you are interested in learning more about adaptive sports and working with people with various disabilities.
Our goal is for you to leave this workshop more confident in being better able to support people with disabilities and special needs in various roles.
