National Get Outdoors Day

in partnership with Denver Parks and Rec and CYL

About this event

Get Outdoors Day Colorado and SouthWest Denver Coalition are joining forces to host Safe Summer Kick Off on National Get Outdoors Day, Saturday, June 3rd, 2023, at Garfield Lake Park from 10am to 3pm. This free, family-friendly event is designed to promote access to healthy and safe outdoor spaces, support under-resourced communities, and celebrate nature exploration.

What you will be doing: helping Denver Parks and Rec Staff facilitate outdoor sports (kayaking, biking, paddling, fishing) and helping set up and break down.

Adult lead on-site: Hayley Krawitz, CYL's Outreach Manager

Our shared goal is to build community cohesion and empower community residents. We do this by:

  • Providing the community current and direct connections to providers that can address a variety of health, education, and employment needs as well as promote a healthy and safe summer.
  • Fostering and facilitating an educational experience that encourages participants of all cultures, skill levels, and ages to interact with the outdoors and our public lands - local, state, and federal.

The event is free to the community and offers a variety of entertainment, activities, and food.

You will be able to choose the Shift(s) you are interested in volunteering for:

Morning Shift (10am-12pm)
Afternoon Shift (1:00pm-3:00pm)

**After you respond to this opportunity check your email for updates from Hayley as the event gets closer.
