Description

* CYL SERVICE ADVENTURE *

The most anticipated CYL Service Adventures are back! We're excited to once again partner with the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center (BOEC) to contribute to your community while doing something you love on the slopes. You will be trained as a volunteer adaptive ski or snowboard instructor during these trips. You will need to be comfortable skiing or riding on greens and groomed blues in order to participate to be able to best serve on lessons. You will serve as a shadow and support for BOEC ski or snowboard instructors - they'll help you out!

Want to learn how to ski or snowboard? Email Lauren - we will announce our learn to ski/ride trip soon!

Sample of Trip Agenda

  • Leave Denver at 6:30AM
  • Serve on the slopes 9AM-12PM
  • Lunch Break 12-1
  • Serve on the Slopes 1-4PM
  • Leave Breckenridge around 4:00PM
  • Arrive back in Denver around 6PM

You will earn up to 6 service hours in a single Serve on the Slopes trip.

Trip fees: $50

Fees include safe transportation to and from Breckenridge, all meals and snacks, lodging, programming and lift tickets while volunteering. The trip fees do not include ski or snowboard rental so if you need equipment, please rent prior to trip departure. Lauren will follow up with payment options.

Your Unique Leadership

Student leaders should demonstrate the ability to be respectful of others, open-minded in their views, and courageous in their ability to step outside of their comfort zone. Serving at Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center is an incredibly powerful experience. We ask that all student leaders learn as much as they can about people with disabilities, including proper vocabulary, prior to the trip. Consider watching our disability awareness and adaptive sports workshop to best prepare.

COVID Safety Protocols

We have not been able to run this program since 2020 so please follow these guidelines so we can ensure safety for all CYL participants, CYL Staff, BOEC staff, and BOEC participants.

  • Full vaccination is requested, however not required.
  • Masks are required in vehicles, in the BOEC office, in lift lines, and on the chairlifts.
  • Our lodging is spacious enough so that everyone can spread out safely. Our lodging facilities have a heightened cleaning process.
  • If you are experiencing any COVID symptoms or are sick, please reschedule.

BOEC requires a health screening and their own waiver process so please register early so that Lauren can work with you on completing your required paperwork prior to joining a CYL-BOEC trip!
