Youth Advisors will work with YouthRoots and the Caring for Denver Foundation to keep youth voice front and center during the 2022-23 youth funding cycle. Youth Advisors will work to improve mental health outcomes by elevating youth voice and empowering youth to be mental health advocates, as well as identifying emerging mental health needs among Denver’s youth. The Youth Advisors program is a collaboration between Caring for Denver Foundation and YouthRoots, a national youth philanthropy organization that teaches high school students how to make the world a better place while developing their leadership and life skills.
The Youth Advisors program will run October 2022 through March 2023 and result in two major activities: 1) Youth insight on grant proposals submitted to Caring for Denver during the youth cycle, and 2) grant recommendations on what youth see as the best solutions to the most pressing mental health and/or substance misuse issues facing young people in Denver. In-person sessions will begin in mid October and will be on Thursday evenings for 2 hours approximately every other week.
Youth Advisors will:
- Learn and practice skills that will empower them to be a strong leader today and tomorrow
- Use philanthropy to tackle mental health and substance abuse issues
- Collaborate with awesome high schoolers from different schools
- Earn up to a $400 stipend
If you’re a Denver high school student who is interested in being a part of the solution, and passionate about improving the wellness of Denver’s youth, apply online today! The only requirement is wanting to make a difference.
