About the Advocacy team: We want to hear your voice! We’re looking for passionate youth voices to collaborate with our adult Advocacy & Awareness Action team in helping to plan Afterschool Advocacy events throughout the school year, informed by your experiences in Afterschool programs - or lack thereof. We want to know how you would improve or advance Afterschool programming in Colorado.

The Youth Advocacy Team (YAT) will be comprised of four to eight youth, ages 14 - 18 representing different regions in Colorado.

The youth and adult team members of the Advocacy
and Awareness Action Team will work alongside CAP staff in planning advocacy and awareness campaigns around:
● Lights on Afterschool - October 24th, 2024
● Image Summit, City of Brighton - November 5th & 6th (possibly in person)
● Youth Voice Week 2025 - January 2025 (possibly in person)
● Day at the Capitol event - March/April 2025 (possibly in person)
● Afterschool Professional Appreciation Week - April 2025
● National Summer Learning Week - May 2025
● Advocacy Team Celebration & Reflection - June 2025 (possibly in person)

Participant Commitment:

● Monthly evening meetings with adult Advocacy & Awareness Action Team - 3rd
Wednesdays from 5:30 - 6:30 pm, starting October 16th. Virtual
● Try to attend at least 2 in-person events from the list above
● Be prepared to participate!

Participants will receive an Educational Stipend for at least 80% participation in monthly meetings and in-person events, estimating 30- 40 hours, 2 - 6 hours a month, from October 2024 - June 2025.

Stipends will range from $300 - $450 (dependent on factors such as virtual meeting attendance, in-person event attendance, and work completed outside of regularly scheduled meetings/”homework”/etc).
Stipend will be issued upon completion of the program
(summer 2025), along with a Certificate of Completion.
Should a YAT member need to terminate participation prior to the program term, the stipend amount will reflect the length of
service.
