Volunteers are vital to the fulfillment of the African Community Center's mission to help refugees rebuild safe, sustainable lives in Denver through supportive networks of people, services, and community activities. We welcome hard-working and passionate individuals who are committed to our mission and values.
To volunteer, you must first attend Training 1: General Orientation. At General Orientation you will learn about the work we do and be cleared to serve with ACC as a volunteer. Please RSVP to one of the General Orientations linked in the calendar below. If you are interested in becoming a First Friend or a Co-Sponsor, you must attend a General Orientation BEFORE attending Training 2: Partnering with Refugees at ACC (sign ups for which are also linked in the calendar).
Ways to get involved:
Nest a home
Making a difference starts with making a home. A new country, a new language, and empty pockets are the reality for many newly arrived refugee families. Create a fully furnished home to welcome your new neighbors to the Denver community. A great one-time service opportunity for corporate or school groups! Click below for an info sheet to learn more. Questions? Email Michelle at volunteer@acc-den.org

Co-sponsor a family
Through co-sponsorship, refugees are paired with groups (e.g. faith communities, businesses, civil society organizations, clubs) who provide clearly defined financial and in-kind contributions and volunteer services to support their welcome and integration. ACC's Co-Sponsorship Program requires that a team of at least 7 volunteers walk alongside a family for 9 months, provide at least $3000 in financial support, and “Nest a Home” for the family. The team will welcome the family at the airport and work intimately with ACC and the family to support them as they settle into life in Denver.
Internships
The African Community Center is always on the lookout for new energy and support for our work and community. Interns play a key role in helping us further our mission to help refugees rebuild safe, sustainable lives in Denver through supportive networks of people, services, and community activities.
We strongly value the investment of our interns. Interns bolster our capacity immeasurably, enabling us to achieve far more than we otherwise could.
