Disability Awareness and Adaptive Sports Workshop
Led by Colorado Young Leaders, learn how to better support people with disabilities and special needs in an interactive workshop.
In this workshop you will learn new ways to grow these soft skills while working in adaptive sports:
- sensitivity and understanding
- patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
- to enjoy working with other people or various abilities
- to be flexible and open to change
- excellent verbal communication skills
- knowledge of teaching and the ability to be creative on the fly
- the ability to understand people’s reactions
- active listening skills
For those who are interested in serving on the slopes with CYL and the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center this winter, or locally with Highlands Ranch Community Association Therapeutic Recreation Center, be better prepared!
Our goal is for you to leave this workshop more confident in being better able to support people with disabilities and special needs in various roles.
