Summer Youth Internship at the Butterfly Pavilion
For high school students ages 14-18!
Do you have a passion for the environment, a love of animals, and an interest in learning more about zoos and nonprofits? Are you looking to develop your communication skills and build your resume? Then apply for our Summer Youth Internship program 2023.
Summer Interns complete a two week rotation in three key categories:
Intepretation: Working out on the floor of our invertebrate zoo through 5 different stations connecting with our diverse guests sharing our mission and animals with them!
Hort and Hospitality: Learn about and care for our vibrant botanical collection including our outdoor Discovery Garden and the tropical plants within our conservatory in the mornings, and in the afternoons develop guest service skills while learning about ethical retail.
Camp: Get hands on experience in education by supporting our camps. Science, crafts, animals, and games all come together as you teach and engage the next generation.
The program ends with a week of intensive experiences in departments such as zoo keeping, research and conservation, exhibit design, marketing and more. Students will have time to develop and share a presentation based on what they learned through the summer.
The internship is M-W-F from 8-3 with a one hour lunch break. Orientation is Monday, May 29 and the program begins June 5.
