The Medical Career Collaborative (MC2) Application for 2023-2024 is Now Open!
We are excited to share that the application for the Medical Career Collaborative (MC2) is now open!
For those new to our program, MC2 is an industry based model that propels high school students toward careers in healthcare through hands-on experiences and professional development opportunities.
In order to apply to the program students must:
- currently be a sophomore in high school
- attend high school in the Denver metro area
The program model remains the same with students participating in a two year commitment that includes:
- monthly medical field trips/workshops/trainings
- an internship at one of the following Children’s Hospital Colorado locations, Anschutz (Aurora), North (Broomfield), or South (Highlands Ranch) or Denver Health
- participation in weekly seminar sessions (during the internship part of the program)
- mentoring
- mini health related certifications
- and college and career coaching
In an effort to build a workforce that better reflects the communities served in healthcare, MC2 focuses on recruiting students from groups that are under-represented in the healthcare workforce.
The committee considers the following when selecting students:
- Student essays
- GPA
- School activities
- Community involvement
- Student need and demographics
- Recommendation
- Interest in healthcare
The MC2 program operates at Children’s Hospital Colorado (at the Anschutz, North and South campuses) and Denver Health. At this time we have ONE central application that covers all MC2 program sites. Students may indicate a site preference but the MC2 administrative team will determine where selected students are placed.
Applications are due by the end of the day Wednesday March 1st, 2023.
The application is long as it requires a school transcript, essays, a recommendation and general information so we advise that students start working on their application several weeks before the March 1st deadline. *Please note, the application and all materials must be submitted online. No paper applications will be accepted.
As an additional resource for potential applicants, we have attached a FAQ list here and prepared a recorded presentation https://youtu.be/fM6-rQp0FhE that walks students through the basics of the MC2 program and how to apply. Please feel free to share this email along with the presentation link to those who may be interested in learning more about the program and applying for the 2023-2024 school year.
