Colorado Agrivoltaic Learning Center

Who We Are

The Colorado Agrivoltaic Learning Center encourages sustainability leadership by connecting students, community members, and policymakers to clean energy, local food, and responsible land use management through agrivoltaic tours and events.

What We Do

With educational outreach, tours, and workshops, the Colorado Agrivoltaic Learning Center connects students, community members, and policymakers to learn about agrivoltaic systems and its intersectionality with the water-food-energy nexus. We employ a full-time education outreach specialist to design educational materials that are delivered directly to students, inspiring our future change-makers to imagine more sustainable agricultural and energy production systems. These same materials are used to educate both community members and policymakers. Our education outreach specialist provides free tours and classes to high school students across Colorado to learn more about agrivoltaics. In the past two years, we have reached 500 students in Boulder, Denver, and Jefferson counties.

The Colorado Agrivoltaic Learning Center offers public tours every Saturday morning through the growing season so that anyone in our community can venture out to Jack's Solar Garden to learn more about agrivoltaics. Starting in 2020, we have had over 2,300 people visit Jack’s Solar Garden.

The Colorado Agrivoltaic Learning Center provides workshops and webinars for landowners and solar developers about incorporating agriculture within solar arrays. Our first ever research webinar with presenters from Jack's Solar Garden, National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Colorado State University, and the University of Arizona drew an audience of 170+ people from around the world.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED:

We are open to creating a lot of opportunities. I talked with Hayley about speaking to the virtual chapter, creating a spring service day at the farm, and participating in a summer sustainability program as well. We are open to collaboration with CYL.
