Standing on the back lawn of the Colorado Governor’s Mansion in 1988, a group of “twenty-somethings” came together with a common goal – inspired by Eugene Lang, Founder of the “I Have A Dream” Foundation in New York. Their dream was to take Eugene’s vision and create the Colorado “I Have A Dream” Foundation (CIHAD) where individuals, civic-organization, corporations, and local and state government would make a long-term investment in Colorado’s children that could ultimately change the trajectory of a child’s life.
Today, many of those “early adopters” remain involved including Chris Romer, Rusty Wehner, Noel Ginsburg, and Rob Cohen. They remember fondly the guidance and generosity of Anabel and Jerry McHugh and continue to believe that impact is measured in years and through a deep, sustained commitment to youth and their families, our community can thrive.
