Who We Are
A Little Help is a nonprofit organization that connects neighbors of all ages to enhance lives and strengthen our communities.
To that end, we help older adults age well in their homes by connecting them to an important resource plentiful in every community: good neighbors. Many tasks around the house and yard chip away at independence, but through A Little Help, good neighbors can help with transportation, yard work, handiwork, home organization, and social engagement, empowering older adults to thrive where they have lived for decades and put down roots. This interaction also creates opportunities for our seniors to share their stories and skills. For example, while Service Saturday! volunteers are clearing flower beds and cutting down vines, our members enjoy sharing their own gardening tips with young adults and new homeowners.
What We Do
If you can spare a few hours per week or every other week to run errands or make phone calls, please start by filling out an application form.
Community Volunteers are the Life-Blood of A Little Help and we hold core annual training and orientations regularly. Our services are only as good as our volunteers, so we invest in the highest quality professional development for them. As a result of our investment and the positive relationships, they build with their senior neighbors our volunteer retention rate is over 80%, with an average tenure of three years.

Volunteers are also considered members of our organization, as such, we are blurring the lines between those serving and served. Volunteers benefit from their involvement in an intergenerational community and the opportunity to give back to strengthen their own neighborhoods. We also strive to provide opportunities for teens and younger volunteers to be involved in these grassroots efforts. As a nonprofit organization, we can provide students with school community service hours, and we are happy to complete the necessary paperwork to show their participation.
